By downloading, accessing, or using FamilyYak ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What This App Is

FamilyYak is a family life management tool designed to help parents and caregivers navigate childhood development stages, organize household tasks, and make informed decisions together. The App is intended to serve as a starting point for learning and organization — not as a substitute for professional guidance.

The App is designed to:

Provide general information about what to expect at various stages of child development
Help you discover trusted external resources such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), CDC, and other reputable organizations
Help you organize tasks, track progress, and coordinate with your partner
Offer AI-generated suggestions and insights as a starting point for your own research

3. What This App Is NOT

This App does not provide:

Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind
Developmental assessments or evaluations of your specific child
Personalized medical, mental health, nutritional, or therapeutic guidance
Emergency services or crisis support

The content in this App is general in nature and may not apply to every child or situation. Every child develops differently, and what is typical for one child may not be typical for another.

5. AI-Generated Content

FamilyYak uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to generate personalized insights, suggestions, and recommendations. AI-generated content:

Is provided for informational purposes only and should not be treated as professional advice
May contain inaccuracies, omissions, or outdated information
Should always be verified with qualified professionals before acting on it, especially regarding health, safety, or development
Is generated based on general patterns and may not reflect your specific circumstances

We make reasonable efforts to ensure AI-generated content is helpful and accurate, but we do not guarantee its completeness or correctness.

6. User Accounts & Households

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
Household features allow you to share data with invited members — you are responsible for who you invite
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure
Upload malicious content or attempt to exploit the AI features
Create accounts for the purpose of abusing free tier limits
Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the App's content without permission

8. Accuracy of Content

We make reasonable efforts to ensure the information in FamilyYak is accurate and up to date. However, child development research and medical guidelines evolve over time. We do not warrant that the information in the App is complete, current, or free of errors.

9. Third-Party Resources & Links

The App may reference third-party websites, organizations, or resources (such as the AAP, CDC, or other trusted sources). We do not control these external resources and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. A reference to a third-party resource does not constitute an endorsement.

10. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, and curated content, is owned by FamilyYak. Content you create within the App (tasks, notes, decisions) remains yours. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FamilyYak and its creators, developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any loss, injury, claim, or damage of any kind arising from your use of, or reliance on, any information provided in the App.

This includes, without limitation, any damages arising from AI-generated content, third-party resources linked from the App, or decisions made based on information in the App.

Your use of the App is at your own risk.

12. No Professional Relationship

Using FamilyYak does not create a doctor-patient relationship, therapist-client relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and the App's creators or any contributors.

13. Service Availability

We strive to keep FamilyYak available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The App may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or engage in behavior that is harmful to other users or the service. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app or email.

16. Governing Law
